Kevin from TAPlab has just finished a really nice repair of an induction hotplate for a family member. It was left on top of a stove, but the stove element was on. A large section of the bottom was melted but all the electrical parts inside were still fine.
Kevin got hold of a small sheet of ABS plastic for $5 from Cambrian Plastics in Henderson. He used the dremel at TAPlab to cut away the melted plastic and to cut a patch the right size out of the plastic sheet he bought. He used the heat gun to bend the patch so it would curve over the hole. Then he glued it in place and now the hotplate is back in use!
